M & L Sport Fishing
Guided sport fishing charters in the beautiful waters of Kailua Kona, Hawaii
With Ka Pe’ a (meaning Southern Cross in Hawaiian), we want you to keep the fish that you catch. Every trip is customized for maximum fish-catching enjoyment. By combining local knowledge with dedication and the best gear in the business, we keep our customers on fish.
When you come aboard Ka Pe’ a, you’ll realize why we catch so many fish. We have green stick at our disposal, pinch pullers for bottom fishing, long line for longer Sea Mountain outings, (if and when needed), and all kinds of stand-up top line reels. If you want light tackle to maximize your fishing experience, we have that too in Shimano 50 reels.
Half day Charter$ 550
We think the best catch is the morning one, with calm waters and hungrier fish. Get up early with us and be the first ones on the bite!
Full day charter$ 1000
The full-day catch is where we look for specific buoys to exploit. With our experienced captain, you’re sure to bring home fish.
I have been fishing since I was little kid, when we used to go get Dorado out int he gulf stream when we lived in the Florida Keys and always made a point of going out with my team when working on a project at Cape Canaveral. I met Lincoln in California after his first stint fishing in Hawaii, but I heard stories of big fish and ranging up and down the island chain as far as Midway. Here, the fishing was great and we always had wahoo, yellowtail, or fresh tuna in the freezer as a result of our fishing trips. Now that he is back in Hawaii and has a boat, we did a quick trip out to one of the seamounts for BigEye Ahi. I didn’t get one of the big ones, which I hear are running up to 90+ pounds, but I definitely will be back to go hunting for them when I get a chance to fly out from Los Angeles. If there are fish out there, Lincoln will know where they are and how to get them.
It was a full and totally amazing day that completely surpassed my expectations. Our boat captain & first mate were totally knowledgeable regarding the marine life & beautiful waters of the Kailua Kona Hawaii area. (And they were extremely fun to top it off!)
This expert ‘crew of 2 ’ very smoothly scouted out & brought us to huge pods of dolphins (that were literally jumping and swimming along both sides of our boat (the Ka P’ea 😎) as we raced along.
Our captain was obviously experienced (and was also very intent) upon locating the best possible spots to find fish. As a result, we also caught plenty of Ahi throughout our day and had the chance to learn all about the special reeling techniques & ‘tricks of the trade’ used in successful wide open seas fishing.
This special fun-filled day was a ‘one of a kind’ that I will honestly always cherish!

If you want to experience real Hawaii fishing then you need to book this charter!
First, your captain, Lincoln Ahlo, is a native Big Islander. He’s a master fisherman and will share his knowledge and expertise with you. This is priceless!
The boat – all i can say is WOW! It’s huge. I understand they use it for commercial fishing as well as charters. When you hook up to a fish you really get to fight….standing up and feeling the fish as you reel in your prize catch! We’ve caught ono and ahi with Lincoln. What a thrill! Don’t miss out on your big catch experience!
